COSMETIC DENTISTRY
- Veneers
- Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer is a thin shell that is placed over the front or visible parts of the tooth. There are two types of veneers, ceramic veneers that are produced by a dental laboratory and resin-based composite veneers that are fabricated and placed by our dentist. Veneers are prescribed for a variety of reasons including worn enamel, wear and tear, genetics, and uneven teeth. In addition to being esthetically pleasing, dental veneers can also serve a functional purpose by protecting the surface of a damaged tooth. In some cases, veneers may replace the need for a dental crown, eliminating the need for more invasive tooth preparation. Since dental veneers are so thin, they require little-to-no tooth reshaping when bonded onto the tooth. Once veneers are bonded into place, they are relatively strong and durable.
- Whitening
- Everyone loves a bright, white smile. Today there are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the color of your teeth. Some whitening procedures are done in our office with one visit. Other whitening agents can be purchased to take home with you after your dental appointment, but will not whiten your teeth as quickly or as effectively as those delivered by the dentist. Teeth whitening is not a permanent solution and require maintenance or "touch-ups" for a prolonged effect. In most cases, whitening can not be performed until all dental treatment is completed, including fillings.
